What is SAP?
SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) is a Government-defined process in accordance with Part L Building Control Regulations. It is a calculation of the energy performance of new dwellings/ buildings.
Do I need a SAP?
Yes, from 7th April 2006 all new residential buildings, require a SAP.
We insist on being very flexible around site times. and we are happy to test before/after work, lunchtimes, weekends etc. Our informative diagnostic reports are available immediately and we are able to explain and rectify any problems on the day through our use of the most up-to-date equipment.
Our specialist air leakage test equipment will supply air into the building at a variety of flow rates to create a pressure differentials between the internal and external envelope. These air flows and differential pressure readings are monitored to produce a known relationship between these readings. The air temperature inside and outside are also measured, along with the external wind speed and the atmospheric pressure. Once the test is completed a certificate confirming compliance will then be issued to both the developer and local authority. In the event of a building failing to meet the required standard we can identify the cause of the leakage and advise on how best to bring the property to within the limits.
We specialise in domestic dwellings but we can give a quote for commercial testing as well
Accreditation - We are accredited testers of new houses and large extensions. All engineers have been fully trained under BINDT (British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing) and this is to the ATTMA Technical Standard 1 (2006) BS EN1829:2001.
